Stereo Upgrade Options

Morning all,

Im now settled in with my SR180. Its my second Auris and Im really enjoying it!

My question is, what options do I have for upgrading the stereo?

I would like Toyota satnav, but cant see anything anywhere.

Other option is double din - although, if I do this, any recommendations for which stereo fits correctly? where should I get a stereo surround from?

will I need a wiring harness?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

regards

Andy ;)

I have seen the sat navs before on eBay, just remember when you search that it is the same sat nav for most Toyota models (Auris, Avensis, Rav 4 etc)

Really?

Ive seen quite a few Toyota satnavs on eBay, but nothing that looks like the Auris one!

Theres the Toyota TNS510, but even that is a totally different colour and would need some kind of trim to fit.

no idea on the trim but iff you get a model number I am sure your local dealer will confirm if this fits your car ;)

From my bitter experience best avoid the chinese offerings, most of 'em are crap running severely crippled win 6 pda software.

They're buggy, crash a lot and have horrendously interfaces designed for use with a stylus, not a finger whilst driving.

You get what you pay for to be fair, I think you would have been naive to expect anything but crap if you pay for crap.

I went for an Alpine IVA-W502R which is double din, no problems at all and sound quality very good and vast improvement even on stock Speakers.

I chickened out and got someone to do it for me, all surrounds were supplied and fitted by them.

This post covered the surrounds:

Well, I didn't think I was buying crap because I didn't pay "crap" prices, and I spent ages checking out the various specs and they seemed pretty good. The few pictures the sellers post of the various interfaces seemed pretty good too. They never show the rubbish ones... The problem is, these Chinese units are just pda's hooked up to a touch screen with various bits of software installed to run the various functions, none of which work together particularly well.

Hindsight and other peoples experiences are wonderful teachers. Unfortunately there wasn't much info around when I bought my crap.

I now run Pioneer in my motor. Stupidly expensive for what it is, but does the job fabulously!
