I need info on last generation Gen7 Celica with the Automatic gearbox. I can find a couple for sale with what appears to be a tiptonoc gearbox.

Were any autos officially supplied in the UK, or are these imports?

The Gen7 was only offically sold in the UK with a manual gearbox, the JDM ( home market ) was sold with a 140 or 190 bhp automatic, its called a tiptronic but it has the traditional shift pattern P R N D 1 2 etc, what some of them had was a up and down buttons on the steering wheel to change up and down the gear ( sort of F1 style ).

One of the pitfalls of an import is dealers or sellers don't tent to tell you if its a 140 or 190 bhp, this can be done using the model code on the silver chassic plate, import cars are call SS-I or SS-II models, see this below...

SS-I Manual ZZT230 BLMGH

SS-I Automatic ZZT230 BLPGH 140 bhp

SS-II Manual ZZT231 BLFVF

SS-II Automatic ZZT231 BLPVF 190 bhp

Model code off chassic plate in bold,

hope thats some help

Thanks. That confirms that the ones I have seen for sale with flappy paddles tiptronics must be imports. I just wish sellers would make it clear when advertising.

A telltail sign of an import from the front is the orange side markers in the bumper ( although a change to a uk bumper can change that ) and uk cars have twin rear fog lights in the back bumper, its common to see one on the right hand side or bolted under the bumper but again uk bumpers are common at breakers so could have also been changed, bottom line is only import come as an automatic/tiptronic
