Yaris Tailgate Spoiler - Painting

I have a genuine yaris tailgate spoiler to fit our 2009 yaris. Only problem is it's metallic gray and our car is red. So can anyone recommend somewhere local to Northampton UK where I can get the spoiler refinished before I fit it. I had one quote at £100+vat which seems expensive to me.

I think car color is Chilli red code 3P0

Sounds about right if pro job.

You could try doing it yourself. Use spray cans form paint shop.

Would think you will need Large can of each primer & top colour.

Rub down with wet/dry paper all over make it flat.

Spray on undercoat. Leave 1 day. Re rub down.

Ditto again.

Leave to dry 1 day min.

Top coat red, spray light coat each time. Don’t try and cover in first go.

Rub down fine w/d and repaint.

Leave to go hard 2 days in the warm all the time.

You can get a reasonable job with spray cans, but be patient.

D.i.y all the way on small items like that, Paint cans are a good match these days and give a good spray unlike the splatter cans from years ago.

As mentioned the more time spent on prep the better the finish.

I'll be doing this but i need a spoiler 1st.............Any going cheap anywhere? (SR wrap round type only)

My spoiler is the genuine yaris 2006-2010 as fitted to the yaris SR. came off eBay from a dealer on a BIN at £30 plus £15 P&P :) . Metallic gray with minor paint chips, but came with fixing kit. Intructions for painting fixing can be downloaded from Toyota GB.

They usually come up on eBay circa £70 from dealers just wait, not worth going fibreglass aftermarket.

I have decided to refinish chilli red myself. I recently did a metallic titanium color spoiler on my Vau*hall Omega. spray cans did a good enough job, with silkaflex to stick it on.
