April Fools Day

I made a big booboo yesterday worthy of being labled an April fool

I purchased a pair of Basin Taps on the 31st march to replace the existing ones in my bathroom , i installed them yesterday (1st April) with minimum fuss and stood back to admire my handiwork , it was then that i noticed that both taps had the letter H on top , i can't print what i shouted when i realised my mistake , or should i say screwfix's mistake , the taps are sold as a pair , so i didn't give it a thought to make sure that one had H and the other C on top , i merely examined the main body of the taps to make sure there was no damage and just got on and installed them , only to get that sink-ing feeling when i noticed the two H's :ffs:

So a quick phone call to screwfix , and they tell me that those parts are now out of stock :censor: However only the manager has the authoritie to order me another pair because i have fitted the parts and its not a case of a straight forward swap-over , so they took my details and promised that the manager would call me back when he was free , needless to say he never did ..... Anyone else brave enough to admit to being an April Fool , or am i on my own here

On April Fool's day , some years ago, my late Wife informed me that the Sewage was backing up & the Septic tank must be blocked

I was on my way to work, but dashed out with shovel in hand & got stuck in, as it HAD happened before She then shouted to me [through locked doors :lol2: ] "April Fool "

I tried to convince the missus that the two H's stood for " his and hers " Only she wasn't laughing

I thought that the H and C supplied with the taps was just a removable blank in the tap head.

Are you sure that there was not a spare pair of C's in the packaging?...........lol

Nope no spares , i also tried to unscrew the circular bit with the serrated edge , you know , its the bit on the top of the tap with the white inlay with the H or C embossed on it , it should screw off but its !Removed! stuck solid , i was hoping it would come off , as the one on the old part looks identical , so it would have solved the problem , however i am planning to give another branch a call to see if they have a pair in stock , if so , then go in and purchase it , take it home swap over the offending tap , clean it up , place it back in the box , i won't touch the new fittings , just change the tap and return it for a refund ,they offer a 30 day no quibble money back guarantee ( providing its presented back in the box unused ), hopefully they won't check or notice you have to fight fire with fire or else they'll just give you the runaround , when the guy on the phone told me that only the manager had the authority to order me a new pair , but he was busy with a customer , and asked for my details so he could call me back , i said no , he asked why and i said because he never will , he gave me his name and promised that he would make sure that the manager would give me a call as soon as he was free , so i reluctantly gave him my details .... like i said , he never did call me back . PS , no grassing me up or tipping screwfix off about my master plan , one bad turn deserves another :D
