Automatic Gearbox Problems

has any one had problems with thier auto rav4 after 2003

i own a 2005 rav4 47,000miles and the box has started to act up,

my mechanic says its terminal

None so far with mine which is same age and slightly less mileage.

Did mechanic explain the problem?

One owner with a similar problem recently ended up sending his ECU away and it was cured. A quick search might help as all the contact details were there.

he said the oil was black, smelt burnt, and the computer was showing errors,

the symtoms were occasional harsh gearchanging, changing up and down the box

on its own,high revs sounded like a slipping clutch and unable to select reverse,whe it does it thudded and surged backwards. sounds like the box and torque converter are shot and the ecu might have caused it.

Top of page, second black bar at opposite end to 'HOME' - took me a while to find it and I've been using re-modelled site since it appeared
