Hi guys, 2002 avensis. I have only one key for the car and the key fob seems to be messing about, working sometimes and not other times and its not the Battery. I dont fancy paying £100 to get a new one. The problem is every time i try to open the door with the key itself the alarm goes off. Is there any way you can bypass the alarm or disable it? Thanks

If you lock it with the key, it should be ok to open it with the key. The problems usually occur when you lock and unlock with different methods.

Hi mate, find the alarm sounding device and take off one of the wires, unless this is the car horn of course then you won't be able to do that. Just one thing to be careful of here though, your insurance company may not be happy with you disabling the alarm system if you told them you have one .... a good excuse for not paying out in any event.

Regards Pete.

Thanks guys. If i lock it with the key and open it with the key the alarm doesnt go off. As you said only goes off when locked with the key fob and opened with the key. Thanks again
