Do you mean the hexagonal thing that slips over the cover of the locking bolt so you can pull it off? You don't say which model you have and that is the only black thing in my locking wheel nut box.

No locking wheel nut covers on my T180  but I have got them and the same removal tool for my IS 300

You put the top hat through the hole in the black nut then push that over the chrome cover. The top hat then pushes the chrome nut out of the black nut.

Should there be covers for the locking nuts on 07 plate T180??

I would think so as it will be there to stop any crap getting into the small grooves etc of the lock nut. i know my old XR2 had small covers on and thats 20 years ago. Anyway I have ordered some new ones from P King as I cracked the lock nut. Ill let you know if they have covers

Im sick of mt T180 rattley engine. i put Forte additive in the other week and it stopped but now its started again. Like "Pinking" when accelerating. Ok when cruising tho :crybaby:

Well I actually doubt it. 4.2 lock nuts, yes, did have covers. Mine did. If I remember correctly the design has changed since then. Same locking nut design concept now seems to be used throughout most of the Toyota range. Owned 2 4.3 and we also have a Yaris. None have had covers, same nut design. They could have made 'em more shiny though.
