How May Mpg?

Hello. Im a virgin, well at least to the Toyota forums and I wondered if anyone can help? Ive recently purchased a 2005 1.8 Toyota Avensis T3-x auto. The car is great and driving an automatic is so much easier to drive than manuals!!!!! However, Im trying to find out what mpg my car gives me, both round town and motorway driving. The trip computer says urban is roughly 27, but we all know these aren't always accurate. Ive looked on different web sites and Ive had different distances from 21 to 27. Which is more accurate? Ive tried to contact the dealer but they weren't that sure!! I have looked in the owners manual but no joy there.

I know I can fill up the tank, run it dry then work it out that way but before that if anyone can help me it would be appreciated.

While Im here Ive got an 'ETC snow' button on there. What is it and how does it work?

If your good at maths, you can try and work out your MPG yourself.

It might not be as good as your trip computer, but at least you would know, what you should be getting and compare with the trip computer.

Ok, work out roughly how much fuel you put in (lets say 50ltr), then remember how many miles you travel before you next fill up again (again lets say 400miles).

From this you can get an idea of your mpg.

You need to convert your amount of fuel into gallons, 50 (ltr) / 4.54 (roughly a gallon) = 11.01 gallons

Now, you need to see how many gallons goes into your mileage, so 400 (miles) / 11.01 (gallons) = 36.33 MPG

Fill the tank to the top of the filler neck, do however many miles you want to, fill back up to the top of the neck again. Divide miles by litres to give you miles per litre, multiply by 4,54 will give you miles per gallon.

Hi , I used to have a 1.8 Auto it was a 2000 model , used to return in the low twenties round the twon and 38 on a run , the ECT snow button was next to the sport button on the gear change . hope this helps .
