Reverse Beeper

Anyone tried the method of disabling the reverse beeper shown on the US web sites? I've tried on my UK Prius with no joy.

Either:

1 - It doesn't work in the UK or

2 - I'm living up to my member name!

Switch to the odometer/trip-meter to display "ODO"

Power OFF (push the "Power" button).

Power ON (push the "Power" button again).

Within 6 seconds of powering back ON, push & hold the button for "ODO" for a minimum of 10 seconds.

While still holding the button for "ODO", shift into "R" (Reverse), then to "P" (Park).

"b-on" should display on the odometer/trip-meter now. Push the odometer/trip-meter button to switch it to "b-off".

Power OFF (push the "Power" button).

We tried the instructions here in Texas, USA. Still got the durn beeper!

I will try it again someday. Would love to get it turned off myself. Wife

doesn't seem to care.

Loving the car other wise. Always get questions about it.

She was at the mall the other day and ran into one of the VP's where she works.

He ohh and awwed over it and then asked about the mileage. She told him and she is

getting better than he is on his road ralley motorcycle. an old bud of my came by there house on his Harley. Getting better mileage than he is even.

Got to love it! :D

I decided against switching off the reverse beeper, as its so easy to put the gear stick into reverse accidently. I have done this a few times and had to quickly brake to avoid hitting something behind me.

Hi,

I was confident that armed with instructions on how to disable the reverse beep, I could turn it off. Guess what, I couldn't. Not too much of a problem for me, I can live with it and as said it can be useful if you accidently slip into reverse by mistake. My hearing has to be doubly acute though as I had the reversing sensors fitted, thus need to filter the two different beeping noises whilst in reverse!

I have the instructions on my website (see sig) in the Technical section. This was taken direct from the German workshop manual, so it should be valid in the UK as well.

Hi Victor,

Sorry to be a bit dim but I can't see a technical section on your website. I must be missing something.

And still it beeps!

Victor, the instructions look pretty much the same as the ones on US sites. In fact they are the same as the ones I posted earlier this year. Just tried the ones off your site on my UK Prius and failed.

Doh :D

Oh. I am still waiting my Prius (Ordered May 10 month delivery :( , changed ordered colour last week, delivery now September :D ), when it comes I will also try it.

The instructions came from a German Toyota workshop manual that my dealer let me borrow. Next time I am there I will ask the Prius tech if he knows if it works.

All OE eqpt MUST work. You dont HAVE to have it in the first place but if fitted must work!

You cannot turn the beeps off on uk cars due to type approval, they remove the softwear at the factory for the uk market .

Sorry you will have to live with it !
