Hello Chris,

I have the iPod connection for the nav system and it works a treat with my latest generation nano so I would assume it would be fine with the iPhone.

I am pretty sure that the sat nav now includes this connection kit as standard - I had a bit of a moan when my car arrived and the described 'integrated ipod connection' was acually the aux in (!!) and in the end they fitted the connection kit (which cost around £200) for free. I think the nav option is now around the £1100 mark when initially it was £900 so that would explain the £200 increase in price.

Check with your dealer or Kingo may be able to tell you exactly what is now included with the nav option.

Neil.

Thanks Neil, i'm trying to avoid the nav as i have a tom tom and don't fancy spending £1100.

Does anyone know if the ipod connection works without nav?

If not i guess i'll be staying with aux in

I am not sure the ipod connection would be worth getting without having the toyota nav system - I certainly wouldn't fancy trying to navigate through folders using the steering mounted controls - the aux in is probably going to be your best bet. plus the ipod connection is a dealer fitted accessory so if you don't think the aux in is working as well as you would like then you can always upgrade at a later date!

Welcome to the iQ world - I did see a red one close to where I live not long after the colour became an option and it looked good :) So enjoy it when it arrives!!

Just a note to add to the subject of music in the car;

Whilst I fully accept the benefits of having a gazillion gigabytes of ipod based music at your fingertips, don't dismiss that the in-built CD player will play MP3 CD's.

This means that instead of having access to just the usual 15 tracks or so on a conventional music CD, you can create your own huge music CD's by simply choosing 'Create data CD' in Windows Media Player (or whatever you use). This means that on a 700mb CD, you can get @ 120-140 tracks on a single CD depending on the size of the files, then you don't have to even consider fiddling with a standalone player via the aux.
