4.2 Rear Bumper/external Door Trim Removal

As the RAV 4.2 doesn't have a rear bumper as such and instead just has 2 overriders on each corner and a trim panel on the lower half of the rear door, fitting parking sensors looks to be a bit more involved than I originally thought.

I have contacted the suppliers of 2 different brands of parking sensors and both have recommended the electromagnetic type for the 4.2 RAV owing to the spare wheel location and lack of a rear bumper. They both advised mounting a sensor strip on the inside of the rear door trim each side of the spare wheel with a third strip actually on the inside of the wheel cover, connecting all 3 with a length of wire. This way coverage for low level obstacles will be provided along with higher up obstacles which might hit the wheel cover.

As the Haynes manual doesn't give any advice on how to remove the external trim panel from the rear door, can anyone offer any tips/advice?

Thanks everyone

You should find everything you need here. I have fitted them in the past and don't remember any significant snags.

Enjoy.

Thanks Anchorman, that's exactly what I was after and it even includes templates - brilliant.
