Ticking Noise From Rear!

Hi...just joined the sight. I've got an '07 Toyota Corolla Colour Collection 2.0D-4D. Great car, only it's started making a ticking noise from the N/S rear sounds like from the petrol cap.

I say just, it's been doing it for a while only when you switch it off. Toyota have had it in but can't find the fault because they can't replicate it while they've got it. :(

At the begining the noise stopped on it's own after about 20 seconds. It still stops on its own but I found turning the ignition back on stopped it and also pressing the brake pedal stopped. Weird. It's now started doing it when it's driving which I don't like. I have a tow bar and electrics fitted and have thought whether or not there is a wiring issue with that.....I think I'm clutching at straws.

Has anybody got any ideas or has anybody else experienced something similar...

Thanks for reading this and any help/ideas would be brill.....

Rgds

Hi and welcome.

My dads Prelude has a sound that behaves that way. It's something to do with the fuel pump as I remember, but I've no idea what it's doing to make that noise.

I think it's one of those things that isn't a fault with the car as such, nothings is wrong with it but that's just a bug. If I could hear exactly what the noise is like I could give you more help!
