Can someone help me identify what this belt is called? It's from an 2001 Avensis 2.0 vvti petrol with aircon. Would be grateful if anyone can recommended where to get a new one from (apart from the Mr T!)

Cheers,

H.

..and if you want to know what the type of belt is called, it's called a multirib belt. This one in particular is rather heavily worn.

They are also known as auxiliary belts too. Many different names but most places will know what you're on about. ;)

Go to a garage and they will order in the parts, that what I do with stuff I cannot find elsewhere.

I got mine from this place, found them for you:

Link may not work so go to:

Hi mate...

I have a 2001 1.8vvti avensis too...recently noticed like a slipping sound coming from under my bonnet more so when changing from 1st to 2nd...is this the same problem you have? Also are you doing the job yourself once you buy the belt? If so is it easy to do and how? Please let me know. Thanks...sammy

Dear all,

Thank-you for your help. I managed to source the belt from a local motor factor for approx £15. There are two types (different lengths) depending if your car has aircon. Getting it fitted by a friend of mine who has a garage in Charlton today.

I was considering doing it myself as I do most of the maintenance on the car, and came across this article - http://www.dogsbyte.com/Avensis.html but I just don't have the time right now and the belt is pretty much on it's way out...

Best wishes and thanks again,

H.
