Taking The P***

A furious political row has erupted following the disclosure that three Labour MPs David Chaytor, Elliot Morley and Jim Devine charged with fiddling their expenses had been awarded legal aid.

Tory leader David Cameron seized on the news the MPs would have their legal fees paid by the taxpayer, vowing a Conservative government would ensure it could not happen again.

However Justice Secretary jack Straw hit back, accusing the Conservatives of attempting to block moves to enable the courts to means-test white-collar defendants for legal aid.

Is it me or is the world going mad censored.gif

You could'nt make it up if you tried , is there no limit to how low those scumbags will stoop to , the average bod on the street would have to be on a very low wage or on income support in order to qualify for legal aid , and those thieving gits get handed it on a plate , if they had an ounce of morals they would decline the legal aid and pay for their own defence , i bet they get off with the charges anyway , their all bent , :hang: the !Removed! lot of em .

We have them too, in Spades  Is there an honest Politician anywhere, or only ones who haven't been caught?:2guns::mad2:

The problem is, that people are now so disillusioned , here & in the UK, that they won't bother voting.

These guys resigned didnt they? Why should they get legal aid?

Criteria for getting legal aid

Do I have to pay in the Crown Court?

Yes, if you can afford to pay. There are

four scenarios:

1. You don't have to pay if you're:

• under 18

• on specific benefits*

• your disposable income is below £283

a month

2. You can afford to pay from your income

3. You can afford to pay from your capital

4. You can afford to pay from your income

and capital

Paying for your defence

* benefits include: income support, income-based jobseeker's allowance, guaranteed state pension credit, income-related employment and support allowance

So these guys are on benefit or their disposable income is below £283 a month

David Cameron is talking through his hoop as well, how would a tory Government stop it happening again? Legal aid is on the statute books so would he bar specific groups of people from getting it? ie, disgraced MP's?....Rant over

I reckon if I was earning £64,766 a year, I could have saved up a few quid that would take me above the legal aid limit.......I thought my rant was over but I carried on

Kingo

Psychiatrists and Lawyers destroying mankind

Drivin' 'em crazy...and stealing 'em blind

Bankers and Brokers ruling the world

Storing the silver and hoarding the gold

Ain't no use in preachers preaching

When they don't know what they're teaching

The weakest man be strong as Samson

When you're being held to ransom

Famine and hardship in true living colour

Constant reminders...the plight of our brother

Daily starvation our diet of news

Fed to the teeth with a barrage of views

Ain't no use in preachers preaching

When they don't know what they're teaching

The weakest man be strong as Samson

When you're being held to ransom

Black men and white men, and Arabs and Jews

Causing congestion and filling the queues

Fighting for freedom the truth and the word

Fighting the war for the end of the world

Ain't no use in preachers preaching
