Not sure if this is the correct forum for this but anyway :)

Is there any truth that NEW vehicles are sometimes underfilled on refridgerant in the air con systems, causing the customers to have to pay for an "air con service" to recharge the system.

Wonder how many folk have had this issue, say in vehicles under 3 or 4 year old.

nope deffo fully filled. any thing that doesn't get filed correctly will be off lined and re-gassed.

think that may be a bit of an urban legend.

its worth noting that if the car has been stood before delivery the gas may settle and take a while to become properly cold again.

aircon systems should be re-gassed every 2-3 years anyway as the gas naturally seeps out especially if the aircon is not used regularly. you should put the air con on for 10-20mins every month to keep it effective

Thanks... it was something I read once (more than once) over the years so always wondered.

Never turned the A/C off on the TSport in 67K and never had any problems. Had it re gassed at 3yrs as a precaution, not because it needed it, and it was still perfect 5 yrs later when I changed it for the Auris.

Thanks :)
