New Pollen Filter & Air-Con Sanitizer......well Worth Doing.

After my wife's Aygo went in for a service, (it's second).

The dealer rang to see if I wanted the pollen filter changing

and the air-con sanitized.

I grudgingly agreed.

When her Aygo came home, it was noticeable how much better

it smelled than mine.

Bought a new pollen filter from Peugeot who were nearer

and a can of Comma Air-con sanitizer.

Used as instructed......MUCH better inside car now.

I hadn't noticed how musty it smelled.

The filter shown had covered 18000 miles.

Quite agree, some interval changes for filters are too long IMHO. I tend to do the Cabin/Pollen filter 12 months/12K miles in many of my cars as at the end of the way, thats what you're breathing in (and out!). As for the COMMA stuff, always used it and its always done the job.

It's a mixture of city driving and about 5 long trips (1500 miles plus)

Usually driven round the North side of Sheffield

so there's no industrial polution, I presume it's mainly

Diesel particulates & road dust.

Where I live is bordering on countryside so I would expect mine is a

very average example of filter condition at this mileage.

My first car with a cabin air filter,

I presume my lungs will have the same amount in them.

That looks like quite a clean pollen filter I have seen them black as your hat and full of leaves

Don't be tempted to "Blow out" your pollen filter. The filter itself is electrostatically charged to draw in minute particles from the air, these are then trapped in the filter. Blowing them out to save a few quid releases all the particulates under your nose! You dont want to be breathing them back in again

Photo was taken AFTER I'd

tapped it in the kerb and 4 or 5 wasps / bees fell out of it.

So, saved me having a few episodes of fending bees / wasps

off while driving. Worth it for that alone!

I know this is an old post, but i have just bougt a new pollen filter and this air-con cleaner and wondered if i need to take the old pollen filter out before using of the spray? Because if i leave the old filter in my guess is that it would be clogged up of moist and not work properly? By that i mean using the spray with no filter and replace with a new after treatment.

My car is an 2004 avensis d4d and i have owned it since june 2012 and i dont know when it last has been changed.

Hi there.

Years ago, I did a filter change, then did the sanitizer on a car......as instructed, full power + recirc.

Took out the filter to check, and it was soaking wet.

I don't know if an Aygo / Avensis would pass the recirc. air through the filter.

So......

What I do with our cars is......

Remove old filter, recirc on, Fan on, air-con on.

Follow directions on can of sanitizer THEN......put in new filter.

Seems to work well on our Aygos.
