Running 2 Cars?

Right, I was wondering how many people on TOC runs / have two or more cars in their household? i.e. have a fun car for the weekend, and a day-to-day run-around??

I have been thinking that i would have to have a second car soon as i simply cant afford to have my current car as a daily runner! its all due to many factors, such as petrol prices going up (obvious one!), insurance premium gone up, just bought a house...

my premium at the mo is just over £700 - im 28, clean license, 6 years ncb protected. im looking to get a starlet or something as a daily runner,

the question is to you guys:

1. how do you guys go about insuring your second car, is it cheaper due to the car doing less milage / annum?

2. could my insurance be cheaper overall if i insured both cars, one as a weekend / summer car (doing less than 3000miles/year), then the starlet doin 6000 miles / year?
