You can unscrew the aerial. If its a bit stiff get a cloth, and a pair of pliers. Put the cloth around the aerial and then use the pliers. If you just use your pliers then you`ll damage the plastic on the aerial.

I ve copied this link from eBay to show you how they come apart.

I actually bought the shorter aerial stub instead of the base.

Hope this helps

I bought a Bee Sting ariel which was a direct replacement for the original, It also stopped the car looking like a remote control model biggrin.gif

I went through about 5 of them on my last car, they kept getting stolen. Eventually gave up and put the full size one back on :(

I snapped the original antenna in an automatic car-wash and I went to Halfrauds for a replacement, I found that their standard Peugeot/Citroen antenna is the part that you need because the standard Toyota one is a different size.

Not sure how the Toyota one is different because I bought one for my car. It was a Peugeot 106, and I removed it and put it on my Aygo. It fits, and if you look on eBay its the same aerial for the Aygo, 107, and C1

At a guess the aygo is using a psa part for the aerial base since the car was jointly developed, the thread is a little wider on those, the standard toyota thread is skinny like VW and Audi's aerial base.

Nope the aerial is also PSA. Like I said. I bought one originally for my Peugeot 106. Yes, a 106! and when I bought the aerial I just swapped it over.

This is the exact item I bought from eBay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peugeot-Sports-Aerial-106-205-206-306-309-406-806_W0QQitemZ320362618948QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item4a9719a044

I bought this SHORTER aerial as the original aerial I had on my 106 was a huge long aerial like the one on the Aygo. If you LOOK at the aerial base in the pic. Its the EXACT same as the Aygo, and the pic shows its PSA. Citroen, and Peugeot

Yeah thats what I mean... the Aygo uses PSA parts for the aerial... by "standard toyota aerial" I (and the poster above) mean the aerial on say a Yaris, Auris, Avensis etc... as in the Aygo uses a different one to those cars, ie not standard toyota. :)

My apologies, I was referring to what Halfords describes as a Toyota Ariel.

THe Aygo is a diferent thread from a PSA Citroan C4 Picasso stubby ariel as I tried one and found the C4 airiel to be much bigger thread , not the other way around. Must be PSA use more than one thread. Id be surprised if theres a narrower thread than the one on the Aygo?
