Avensis 2.4 Vvti Auto Spirit - Thinking Of Buying

Currently assessing buying an Avensis 2.4 Auto Spirit. What I need is advice on any probs re: engine/autobox etc. on higher mileages circa 100k miles. Also is it relatively easy to service etc. as I do my own servicing. have an old 2.5V6 Omega at present and am aware of the issues on this and later 3.2v6 and also the Skoda Superb 2.8 tiptronic which are the other two options. The Avensis appeals as engine appears chain driven and our previous Paseo and Avensis mk1 have had a good reliability. Also Insurance group and economy an improvement over the other two options. Note economy is not a major issue!
