Hi i am new to this forum and also new to owning a celica vvti 140. Have a few questions sorry if it is a bit long but any help would be great.

1. Its a 2000 model 140 with 90000 miles and a full service history with all but one at Toyota. It is drinking a fair amount of oil and i am unsure if its to late with the toyota extended cover any info would be great.

2. Sorry still on the oil topic, i put in Mobil 1 super s semi synthetic 10w40 is this ok or is there a better oil to use.

3. I have been told you need to run these on super unleaded but for a quite low powered engine is this really needed.

4. I get a slight rattle noise coming from the engine only when you apply the accelerator very lightly and if you put your foot down a bit it goes. Not sure if it the engine or another part and it may be a silly question but just thought i would ask.

5. Anybody know where i can get a users manual i have tried on the net quite a bit with no luck. i have the leather folder with every book but that.

Sorry it was such a long post if anyone has the time to reply that would be great

Cheers Neil

Firstly welcome.

As you have a 2000 140 that will be a pre-facelift version.

These models' engines were known to have oil related problems so I would check and see if your car has had it's engine changed in the past. It is generally known as the ''Death Rattle''

If it is still the original engine then you may be experiencing the problem and unfortunately will only become worse.

I have put in an attachment concerning this.

You should be runing on 5W-30 oil as per Toyota spec.

There is absolutely no need to run super unleaded.

Manuals can be bought from Mr. T and often are on the well known auction site.

Thanks for the info. The death rattle sounds bad is this linked to the oil issue? can it be that bad if it only does it on very light accelaration i was hoping just something loose but maybe not.
