At the moment a toyota dealership have had my avensis for a week now with head gasket problems. Out of interest how many members have had a similar situation as regards getting the repair covered by toyota when the car is out of the standard warranty ie: over sixty grand but under the so called 100,000k mark. And what problems have you encounted with toyota getting the costs covered. My avensis has done 72,000 just two years old Ive had it for 13 months bought from toyota dealer as an approved toyota used vehicle. the vehicle has a full service history although not toyota but independant garage with toyota techs ( in fact its over serviced ) who can see to the vehicle on demand instead of the usual, sorry sir but the earliest we can see to it will be 1 or 2 weeks! Which i think is the norm for dealerships. I think i may be in for a battle with toyota so any form of advice, tricks, blackmail tactics would be very much appreciated. At the moment i am hiring a car to carry on my busines at a cost to me at 300 a week and under a real threat of having to pack it all in as the taxi and obviously the airport transfer trade is in a pretty por state through one thing or another and a huge bill will cripple me as it would anyone in the trade at the moment. As the dealers were aware of the problem at the time of my purchase should they not have disclosed the fact like say an accident. I'm clutching at straws at the moment and i hope with your help and advice i might get through this. Cheers guys.

If toyota dealership was aware about the problem when they were selling the car and didnt tell you about it, then they should get it fixed free of charge, otherwise it will cost you arm and the leg. Also would get in touch with Trading standards, also if the car is on finance get in touch with finance company. It might be hard battle because you had a car over a year and it might be quite hard to prove it that it was faulty when it was sold to you, worth a try though. Good luck. Darius
