Pimp My Sr180?

I love the look of my SR180, deep blue, very shiny, looks good - but it lacks pimp!

I don't want to go over the top, but I think some subtle LED's for the footwells, perhaps for under the doors when they are opened, maybe for the rear number plate lights and perhaps one or two chassis placed lights to 'pimp' it slightly at night would look cool (maybe under the spoiler?). Ice white colour should look good. I want it to look tasteful, but at the same time, I want it to encourage a slight turn of the head as I drive by... B)

Has to remain road legal of course.

Any thoughts on subtle pimping of this sort? Has anyone pimped theirs this way? Got pics?

I used to wire fog lights etc to cars in my youth (anyone remember when you used to get parcel shelf mounted rear brake lights from Halfords!?) and the wiring was pretty easy. These days, I wouldn't have a clue where the wiring is done, particularly on this type of car! Any diagrams anywhere? They are so much more sophisticated than my earlier Morris 1300, computer controlled gadgets and gizmos! It can't be that difficult to add LED lighting though, can it?

Just some ideas for discussion, or should I leave her just as she is?

Last thought - I used to have a mate who wired red lights to his rear mudflaps so they came on when his normal rear lights were lit - looked good.

If anyone knows of any 'specialist car pimping' in my neck of the woods, Eastbourne in Sussex, I'd be interested to get some web site links too.

Thanks folks! Enjoy the glorious weekend weather!

I fitted these to mine, and I sell them for £15 delivered to the uk or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110522437243&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

They look good. Easy to fit? Are you the seller on that eBay link? Do you provide Auris fitting instructions?

So many questions!

yes mate about 15 minutes max to fit, I am the seller on the eBay link and I have instructions on how to wire these to am auris so they will illuminate when you open / unlock your doors, then when you lock / shut your door they fade out with the interior lights. If you click the video picture above you can watch the video etc

I like! Last question - is that £15 per side, or does that price provide enough lights to do both sides?

BTW Rick, just wanted to ask wether it's possible to connect your LEDs in-line, or does every strip need it's own power source?

Off the back of this, what bulbs does the Auris use in equipment such as number plate lights, courtesy lighting etc? Thinking of changing to LED's on the number plate, but unsure what fitting I would need. Same with the courtesy lighting. Would like to put an alternative colour in there somewhere, but again, unsure of what fitting the bulbs are. It's pointless me taking them out to look, I'd still be none the wiser! :help:

Rick, I mean if you're offering two LED strips, does both of them need to be connected to the power source, or is it possible to connect one strip to the power source and then just connect second strip in-line with the first one? In-line means connecting second strip to the first strip, not the power source.

Tx2, you should find your answers by reading this!

no both led strips are connected together so you only have 1 wire 2 cores to connect

Received these today Rick, thank you for being very quick in getting them despatched to me

Guys, these LED's are just so easy to fit, it is ridiculous. They also come on a 'sticky' strip, so you can attach them to virtually any flat surface with good adhesion (although for aesthetics, they do need to be out of sight!) The connections are well made and 2 x Scotch connectors are included to clip them to the existing wiring. The wiring instructions I received were very clear, and Rick even includes a phone number for you to call if you get stuck (although I fail to see how anyone could!)

The acid test is that they do exactly what you would expect and as far as I'm concerned, they look good!

I'm well happy :yahoo:

Thanks for that, have you seen them in the dark yet? I will be honest your despatch was slow I was very very ill Sunday / Monday as I got a bug where I had a lot of problems at both ends if you get my drift ;) so I gave the envelope, instructions and led strips to my mate who soldered these up for me and posted them as I was in no fit state,

Sorry, only just saw this reply (?)

I though despatch was quick mate - 2 days! No problem with that! Hope you're feeling better now?

Your mate did a good enough job. I'd still have been happy if they'd arrived unsoldered to be honest (but all connected is a bonus!)

Went out the same evening I fitted them after it got dark. I went for amber as it ties in nicely with the dash and touch screen lighting/colouring. Gives enough of a glow to let you see what's what, but not too bright to go beyond being subtle. I really like the look. I'm going to have a think about adding some to the rear footwells at some point.

What I'm really trying to find a solution to, is red LED's on the mudflaps! A mate of mine had traditional side-repeaters on his mud flaps (Vauxhall Carlton), in red, which illuminated when his lights were on. It looked pretty neat. The 'crispness' of LED lighting would look very smart I think, but it's disguising/weatherproofing the fitting that is the problem. Not talking 'blazing' illumination, just something subtle. Not sure about road legality, but I think red at the rear is OK.

Yes feeling loads better now, I always send the kits out pre soldered and ready to fit as a lot of people dont have soldering skills or an iron. The mud flaps is a good one but IMO I think it will look chavy and will be hard to get some LEDs you dont really notice on the flaps unless they are turned on.

do you do these for corollas?

the kit will be the same but the instructions wont, you could just wire this to the light around the cigarette lighter socket ;)
