There's a BIG grommet from the enginebay to the passenger compartment.

On Mainland cars (LHD) it's between the pedals,

don't know if they changed that on the RHD cars.

Have a look at the AIM for installing foglights and the one about Speakers (Speak Tweet),

both have some illustrations on laying wiring, so they might be helpful to you.

i'm guessing it will look like yours with tints and a spoiler ;)

I reckon alloys are the most effective single way of upgrading the looks :)

You could always send it to Chip Foose to play with... thumbsup.gif

ill upload some pictures (just for you;P) they're great little cars, car modifying is what yu likee not what others so go with what u feel is/looks right, simple and cheap mods are a short antenna and gear knob to think about, even debadging, for me everythinks being kept black and chrome, decide on a colour scheme, how about colour coding inside ? ive done mine... yepp gloss black :P (all parts come off easily enough) keep me posted:)

ive spotted this grommit with all the cables (drivers side) however when pushing it with my finger theres like another rubber on the other side, do i simply poke a hole thru this for my mains ? got my sound cables in today after work so im all set

Was the Powerflow exhaust worth it? Notice any more power? Is it OK on motorway? Is low down torque a problem? What daimeter did they fit as stock is so so small.

Audio. My thoughts, Not sure what you are doing but heres my thoughts anyway:

Your Aygo has only provision for 4 10cm Speakers. In back can put in 13cm if cut out biger holes but the pannels will probably vibrate unless you use lots of something like dynamat. Best keep 10cm and fit a sub under drivers seat for bass. Replacing back is easy, caoxial 2 ways easy to buy at good price, Front, best to get 10cm component Speakers but hard to find and a little expensive. replacement head unit should have preouts to drive amp for sub or a drive sub with amp built in. Do not buy a horible high level input sub. Dont go over crazy on expensive stuff either. Aygo aint that well sound insulated, theres a limit to how much its worth spending. Some of the smaller subs that go under seat can still be good. If need a live feed from Battery for sub or amp. Use inline fuse. Fuse must be as close to Battery as possible, dont put fuse at amp sub end. There are pictures of cabling a sub on this site, look very good.

update: got the cable through that grommit (drivers side) all ready now for my amp and sub, not going ridiculous wattage, 800w maximum for the sub.

Id say it was worth it, got twin pipe in centre of bumper, definatly looks smart, noise erm not great for long drives on the motorway everyday i'd say, however its not excessive, the noise (roar) is there when u want it to be by putting your foot down. as for power ermmmm its hard to say :/ perhaps a tiny bit lol ill get some photos up.

How do you find the short antenna/where did you get it from? Been thinking about getting one :)

I've got a Black too, fantastic little car. I'm a student like you, and everyone comments very highly! I've been thinking about doing the gloss black interior too... welcome to the forum anyway :D

cheers dude:D i do get comments yeah haha is yours your first car ? short antenna, anywhere really Halfords or the net, i have a ripspeed one, only thing id reccomend if u park at college to take it off and just put it in your dash save the chavs pinching it, would strongly reccomend doing the interior spraying, im sooooo glad i did mine, improves the interior so so much, just makes it tht bit smarter and less plastic ish :)

They are indeed, makes a change to the usual Corsas, Fiestas, Clios, Puntos etc that everyone else has as their first car :P and road tax is fantastic, most people can't believe it's only £20 for a year. I'll look into getting a nice short aerial then :D cheers

cool man keep me posted wont ya :D, d'yu go for drives with ur college friends and find its all about engine size with them ?

Posted

Lol no not really... they're all just amazed how much room there is inside... and the fact that it has 5 doors. Mind you, they drive Corsas, Puntos etc so their engines aren't much bigger. I've got the best-sounding engine out of the lot though :D

Just want to ask everybody who has replaced their standard aerial with a shorter one if there is any difference in radio reception. I have been very impressed with the standard audio units sensitivity and ability to pull in distant fm stations ,especially when compared to my previous punto which had a much shorter aerial. The size of the standard aerial does not bother me personally just asking out of curiosity.

If you buy a quality replacement the should be no problems, I swapped mine with no issues at all thumbsup.gif

If you are looking for a shorter ariel, unscrew yours, Find a nut the will screw onto it, its quite a small dia thread.

Now go to the local scrap yard with said bolt in pocket and look at vast aray of ariels on cars, test which ones you like if they will fit with your nut.

Ariels dont rust an old ariel will be fine.

Oh and note how much Halfiords one costs, divide by 4 for a reasonable price.
