Satnav: Turning Off 3D Map Mode Effect.

If there's anyone who has the factory-fitted SATNAV have you been able to switch off the 3D view on the main map? We prefer the standard "paper view" using track North. The track North is fine but I can't work out how to set the map to 2D. There is one 3D setting in the menu which is currently set to "off" but that's the only one I can find. Maybe the SATNAV works in 3D mode but I'd prefer 2D if it's possible.

Just push the compass in the left upper corner once, twice, etc. The screen will change.

Peter, thank you for the suggestion. It will be a couple of days before I get to use the car again but I'll certainly try what you say and I'll report back later.

Fancy that! I pressed the compass and it switches from 3D to 2D. Thanks for the heads-up as it would have been the last place I'd have thought to look at.

I did notice something which maybe you can explain? The first time I pressed it, it switched to 2D. The second time, it seemed to do exactly the same thing but I could not see anything change although the map moved ever so slightly. The third time it went back to 3D. So tap-tap-tap-tap goes 3D-2D-2D-3D... Do you know what the second 2D state has that the first does not? I expected successive taps would cycle 3D-2D-3D-2D but there is a second 2D state. Just curious.

Edit: Aha! I worked it out. One of the 2D modes displays map up orientation and the other is track north orientation. It was just my luck the car was positioned so that both 2D modes looked the same hence the slight adjustment in the display. Once we were on the road the effect was clear to see.
