Hi all

Silly question I know. I am thinking of purchasing a Japenese built Toyota Auris 2.0 D-4D T Spirit on a 07 plate. It has about 11,000 on the clock. I took it for a test drive and was pretty pleased with it, upon asking the guy if the engine was turbo charged he said it wasn't. Is this correct?

Regards

Nic

Appreciate the quick reply, Many thanks.

But is your answer a "Yes" it is turbo charged, or, "upon asking the guy if the engine was turbo charged he said it wasn't."

My apologies the question wasn't well phrased in the initial post.

Regards

Nic

I think you will find that it does have a turbo... most if not all modern diesels do.

why does being built in japan make it "better quality"?

all toyotas are built to the same quality levels and all plants are audited to confirm this.

Because IMHO cars built in Japan do not source components from European suppliers.

A lot of people on the Forum feel the same.

My brother has a U.K. built Avensis had 2 Alternators (Bosch). Just has a 3K Auto box fail(British made)

Nephew has U.K. bulit Avensis also had 2 Alternators (Bosch)

Both vehicles wore out their original brake discs in less than 50k.

I have been in the trade for many years and this sort of thing just did not happen when Toyotas were built in Japan.

Bean counters ruined them.

Oh and my 30 month old Auris (British built) with 38500 Motorway miles has a warped rear brake disc which Toyota so far are refusing to fix under warranty.

IMHO Japanese built cars are better.

dont be so sure. the avensis would have to be UK built as thats the only country that builds them. as for alternators i think you will find that they are denso, japan design. auto boxes depending on type are also made in japan.

dont blame everything on the fact that they are UK built. whether a car is built in japan, turkey or UK the design drawings and tolerances are the same
