Driver Door Stuck Shut

i recently purchased my third mr2 a couple weeks ago and for some reason the driver door won't open at all. I've tried slim jimmin it, all the way to jiggling the key in the outside lock and still nothing.but what i am guessing the problem is, is that the tiny heavy duty plastic piece that locks the door into the sill was locked while the door was open and the previous owner tried to force it closed, and succeeded. . .if anyone knows what the problem is or has any solution on how to fix this without cutting into the door panel, please, any information will help me out. the 3 toyota dealerships and 4 auto shops , which i will not name, out here are completely useless because they keep saying that one of the handle rods are broken, but if this where true, wouldn't the bars be motionless if you where to pull the handles?
