Rebadge Or Twin Name Suv In Us-malaysia-australia

Does anybody has any idea whether the Toyota offroad vehicle (some call it 4WD, some call it Sport Utility Vehicle SUV) in Malaysia is the twin (or share similarity with) the vehicle in the US.

I wonder in Malaysia/Australia the Toyota Kluger is the same as Toyota Highlander in the US?

I wonder in Malaysia/Australia the Toyota Prado is the same as Toyota Sequoia in the US?

However about Toyota Unser in Malaysia? is there a twin in the US?

In the US there is Toyota Landcruiser and RAV4 and I notice in the Malaysia newspaper classfied that they have the same name and they must be the same as in USA (except left side driver and may be diesel engine).

I am doing some research because I have accepted a job in Malaysia and I like to drive a Toyota SUV. The road are narrower, more potholes, and flooded during rain.

Thank you for sheading some light.

The various models around the world are often just renamed to suit a market (who in the UK would buy a Kluger? :P )

They are normally not what you might call 'twins' and the differences are more often in the engines (some markets have only diesels) and the options (the US tends to have the luxury LandCruisers because they don't use them as offroaders as much as in Asia or Africa)

There is only one case where I know that there is a real difference: the latest LandCruiser LC100 has independent front suspension on most markets, but is available with a more robust off-road rigid axle in a few places.

If they visually look the same they probably are the same car. But for specific options you'd be best to visit the national websites.

So far there was 30 viewings of the posting but only yannick posted me a reply. Thank you Yannick.

I guess when I arrived in Malaysia a month later then I will have to shop for the Toyota vehicle myself to make the determination if there are "twin".

I am also interested in truck too. In the US, there is Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra. However, the Toyota Hilux in Malaysia looks nothing like the two in USA.

I owned a Toyota Previa 1996 model and I saw on Malaysian website they have a 1998 model called Toyota Estima which is exactly the same (interior, dashboard, seating, outside) as compared to Toyota Previa. However the Toyota Estima Aeras model in Malaysia is a complete different minivan than the Toyota Estima 1998 or the Toyota Previa in USA.

I wonder if anyone know of any website that has compile the twin vehicle name (or comparison) between countries (especially model in Australia, Malaysia, or the US)? I have google search, Yahoo search, alta vista search and did not find any website.

I am interested in Toyota Unser in Malaysia because of the reasonable price. I hope I do not have to wait for months before I can get a new one in Malaysia. For those of you in Malaysia, in the US a person can walk into any vehicle showroom and drive out a vehicle in 1 to 4 hours (excluding exortic vehicle).

I bought my camry, bargain for the price, sign some paperwork and drive home the new camry in about 2 hours when I first set my foot in the showroom door. Ten years ago I bought another car and I bargain hard and it took me 4 hours (I was a student then and have to bring down the price).

Thank you for reading my posting.
