Anybody any ideas on why the power steering has started to feel heavy, there also seems to be a sound when turning the steering wheel,

pump functioning okay, power steering fluid reservoir okay.

Hi,

Some possible causes of heavy steering are:

- Tires (Improperly inflated)

- Power steering fluid level (Low)

- Drive belt (Loose)

- Front wheel alignment (Incorrect)

- Steering system joints (Worn)

- Suspension arm ball joints (Worn)

- Steering column (Binding)

- Power steering vane pump

- Power steering gear

- System may need bleeding when foaming or bubbles observed in the fluid reservoir

BTW, how do you know the pump is functioning OK?
