Hi all,

I've had my IQ3 for about ten days now and I'm very pleased with it so far. OK it's not a sports ..... but I'm getting 48 mpg in the first 200 miles and it's very comfortable. Odd 2nd gear notchiness..I wonder if it's because the lever is so clearly designed for left hand drive...?

The engine cutout feature that I thought I'd hate I actually like..............the airbag light is driving me nuts. Anyone know how to remove the grab handle by the drivers head? I've smacked myself on it two or three times now.

Good little car though....and with 3 year warrantee and free 3 year servicing I shouldn't have to spend any money on it in that time..........should I?

Whilst I am not overjoyed that you are experiencing problems with the proximity of the grab handle, I am more than pleased to read that someone else has had the same issue! I too have had considerable problems hitting my head on it and I documented it here in several threads;

"Then there is the handle that sits on the inside of the car just above the driver’s door. I am over 6’ and regularly bang the side of my head when a look to the right coincides with an offside ‘bump’ in the road."

I had a fair old lump and bruise for the first few weeks and have now wrapped it with soft cloth (the handle, not my head), to make those 'moments' somewhat less compromising. When you highlight such issues, it usually culminates in howls of derisive disbelief or suggestions such as 'Have you tried moving the seat?' Now whilst this may seem the most obvious 'fix', it was the very first thought I had, but because the length of the handle is quite considerable and your driving position is unique to you, there just isn't the option of moving far enough back/forward and maintaining the same level of driving control and comfort.

Regarding the airbag light, I just covered it with a bit of black masking tape.

Picked up our iQ3 last night, it's jumped out of 2nd a few time and is notchy as anything, the one I test drove wasn't like that! Glad some one else has the same problems!
