Hi ya'all, I'm Paul. I'm new, so brand new in fact, yesterday I bought myself a Japanese car for the very first time in my life: an IQ 1 litre in near Ferrari red colour. I've owned a succession of Opels (Vauxhall in the UK), "Kadett" models (of pre-Astra vintage), diesel/derv all of them, drove -aside the family car- some twenty thousand miles in a 1988 3.2 liter Porsche 911 ("a real car") which I've had to let go because I'm a perfectionist and in these cars a set of shock absorbers set you back over £1200, + , + (cringe); since ten years we own a Renault "Kangoo" (first and last time I go for any French car), diesel/derv, a very practical vehicle but a runaway account with the garage for recurrent brake (pads and discs) and other "nagging if minor" problemitis.

So, yesterday, we bought an IQ. We're keeping the Kangoo for my older son, whose Citroën C2 was just totalled by a freak Toyota Land Cruiser, as the insurance doth not purchase him a new car and the kid, well, needs wheels, and we, hey we're still four plus the dawg, and occasionally need a car to get ourselves "as one unit" to restaurant once in a while, neither does our Saint Bernard dog Zappa fit into the IQ...

Nowadays I know for real I'm not rich, and to me the IQ has s*x appeal, without costing too much. I intend to keep it original and -it's red (red is tricky for oxydation)- carnuba waxed. We'll see how it goes (a classic in the making?)

Voilà. 'ere I am.

Paul

Hello Paul and welcome to TOC UK

Hope that you enjoy your IQ..............The Toyota Red (Chilli Red??) is quite good at resisting oxydisation as it is a deep pigment colour.

The IQ could well be a "classic" in the making as it is an innovative and groundbreaking design for Toyota!

Thanks guys (I gather "chaps" isn't any longer in vogue, and I dare not, not use the word "mates" yet).

Now we wait three weeks for delivery of the IQ at the walking-distance dealership.

BTW, a pleasure being in a UK environment; en English (Man city) gentleman is largely to be credited with me purchasing this car. Guess you've already caught up with me -apparent- Yank background ¡DEAD WRONG! (just look at the upside down exclamation marks - but then, neither am I from Barthelona): Belche, de Belchique: beer and chocolate country (if not a nation).

That red colour, er, in my "order form", it's qualified as "super red (3PO)": a very standard colour, no extra money, but I did opt for the "luna" version, which includes alloy rims and some leather trim here and there, and the air conditioning, a nice touch I've never had (well, had it in the Porsche, but ...with a seized compressor, which I ended up removing for lighter weight in the !Removed! section, very important, and not only in those cars, I might add!)

Look this is labour day, I should be taking off... ¡toodeloo!
