Anti Roll Bar Bushes

I just changed a set of ARB's on a 2005 T Sport, the car was making a thud when stopping hard and traced it down to a shot set of bushes.

I got one side out okay but the other side was well coroded and I ended up having to use some serious force, ie breaker bar with scaffold tube to release it!

Did anyone else have these problems? I think the dealer may have assembled them incorrectly when the bushes were changed previously under warranty.

Before I changed mine, I sprayed them with penetrating oil. The 48 hours gap was enough to make the originals - 5 years old - come out easily.

Speed humps round here are a killer.

I need to do mine, I'm hearing a knock at low speed and I was told at the last service about 5k ago the bushes were perished. Are the original parts the best or can you get decent after market ones?

My 77,000 mile 2001 Yaris is on it's 4th set. They were replaced once under warranty. I believe that perished/worn anti-roll bar bushes are a common Yaris issue. Becomes a problem if causing excessive suspension travel - there could still be alot of life in bushes that have only started to perish. An expensive job to get done at a main dealer, and a nightmare to do yourself!

Still on my first set, on an 02 plate, phase1 40,000 miler!

Was told they are perishing slightly but still pasing MOT's and no additional noises!

I will only change them if they need it!
