Rav4 Replace Head Unit

Hi All,

The CD in our 53 Reg RAV4 has packed up with the message ERR1 which browsing the WWW appears to be terminal - we were quoted approx £1500 replacement by dealer.

The unit fitted is the 58812.

I have been given the chance to buy a 58806 unit and before I commit to buying it and then risk butchering the dashboard to get them along side each other, I was wondering if anybody knew if these units were wired up the same and therefore would be a direct plug and play swap.

Hi Pete, welcome to TOC.

Had a browse around and on eBay here, someone is selling a 58806 Unit and has very kindly posted pics of the front and the back

Looking at the photos, I would say the 58806 will be a direct replacement for the 58812 and all the connectors look identical to the 58812 far as I can see.

not sure if you know how to remove the radio, but it is very simple to do and is probably about a 15 minute job to swap the units. :)

I see that Unit sold for £144!! well overpriced for a pretty basic CD/Radio, let alone £1,500 for a dealer fitted one!!
