Alarm On 2002 Avensis

My Dads' Avensis 1.8 GS Auto (Mk2) 2002 model.

He has a problem with the alarm - when he does a short journey of just a few miles and then sets the alarm - after about 30 seconds the alarm goes off - it is like a drop in voltage or something is tripping it ?

If he does a longer journey the problem doesn’t occur.

He did have the door open warning light on the dash recently but Mr T replaced that under warranty as a faulty door switch but the alarm problem remains so it seems unrelated.

Anyone experienced a similar problem or got any suggestions ?
