2.0 Vvti Automatic 2006.possible Engine Noise!

65000 miles.

Hi guys,

Had this car a few weeks now and am puzzled to a noise from under bonnet when pulling away. Only lasts a split second and never happens at other times. Not easy to discribe really....somewhere between a grown and a 'grr'. Possibly a vibration or something but sounds heavier. Gearbox and engine use zero oil (well none since I have had car and have done about 1200 miles), engine runs sweet and gear changes are sweet. Seviced on schedule. Does not sound like metal or anything. No whizzes, bangs, pops, etc. Guess everything has gone through my mind.....piston slap, big ends, little ends, engine management on pull away, gearbox problems, engine mountings, wheels have fell off LOL.

Aye, bob....we all think the worst first, eh? It's your air filter housing growling at the intake pipe, which disappears into the wheel arch somewherE. Look up posts UNDER "INDUCTION ROAR" or my name....you should find no bother. Toyota were well aware of this and fixed my 2006 T3X under warranty in 2009. No harm being done whilst driving.

Yes, mine does the same...
