Sounds like your Battery is a bit low on volts...........check that the connections are clean and tight.

If your sound system has a seperate amplifier it is known that switching on headlights will take away power from the amplfier.

thanks i dont have seprate amp i noticed today that the positive wire for bat was bit lose so that could be it

That could well be your problem

Let us know if cleaning up the terminals and tightening them solves it!

no prob thanks mate will have a go once day light comes around

If it isn't that and someone has been messign with the wiring they could have put the telephone mute from the head unit to the illumination dimmer that dulls down the brightness on the head unit when the lights are on
