Hi

I am new to the group, but not new to Toyotas having had 2 Celicas in the past (a 1983 and a 1986), currently owning a Mk3 Supra as well. My latest buy is a 1979 Celica 2000 ST liftback - it is a cracking car in virtually mint condition, last owner has just died and had owned the car for 23 years.

Anyway, I am bound to have lots of questions, but my first one is this: Is it designed to run on unleaded fuel - I have put LRP in it at the moment. The manual says that the octane rating must be 90 or above, but is it OK to run it on unleaded as that is higher than 90? The engine is the 18R version.

If it was designed to run on leaded fuel then is it possible to convert it to run on unleaded?
