30 years since I was a mechanic, OK EPS, does anyone know of a quick fix, Battery off and reset ECU etc? I was hoping this had been a common fault and there was something to try before I had to go to the dealers :(

Probably a long shot, but as the power steering is electrically assisted is there a fuse ? Look in the handbook which usually lists all the fuses and items they supply.

Dont know if this helps but i used to have the same thing on my 1.4 d-4-d check power steering check Battery etc

It turned out the ecu was faulty and was replaced under warranty

My problem is the warranty has run out, my car's an 07 T180, no problems at all untill the recall issues.

I think I will have to get the fault code, find out whats gone and replace it myself.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

i wouldnt reccommend replacing it urself. There is a website that will warantee your car when it runs out of warantee, there has been adverts on tele for it, forgot what its called but google it and you may find urself some good help :D

Warranty Direct seem to offer reasonable prices, but check out the exclusions!

...oh, and it seems they won't cover nuclear powered cars...

Thanks to everone who has made a reply. I took out warranty and decided to wait a bit before putting a claim in, I've now got arms like popeye from diriving without the power steering :). However, I started the car yesterday and the power steering is alive again, what's that all about?

Thanks to all
