hi all after some advice, hit a pot hole few weeks ago which changed the shape of my front wheel to a triangle, split the rim ripped the tyre (doing about 50) since then i have a knock when turning the steering when stationary, particularly if on a slope with the load on the front wheels, jacked it up no obvious play anywhere, any ideas?

I would say the crush tube is fubarded, however if the wheel is a sbad as you say it is then it could well have effected the fig 8 and/or lower arm.

Crush tube would be first port of call though

you could also check the wheel bearing itself.

You can tell your bearing is bad if the tire "wiggles" back and forth easily when the wheel is up on a jack.

My bearings went out and made some crappy noise...

It could also be that your CV shaft is shot or out of the bearing.

I had this exact problem for months, even got my machanic to take the stearing rack off but still it made a clunk, the problem was my shock was leaking and the oil corroded the wee rubber band that sits between the shock and something else even after I replaced the shock it still made the noise, but I ended up replacing the rubber band before my M.O.T and the clunk stopped, it had me baffled for months and it ended up being something simple. Hope this helps as your problem sounds the same!!!!
