If I decide to go for a Prius at company car renewal time I'll be taking delivery this time next year.

I vaguely recall reading on one of the US-based Prius forums of a mid-life facelift being due around September this year?

The Gen 3 is just out. If you assume a 5 year cycle like the Gen 2 then the Gen 4 will be out in 2014.

The mid life version will be the plug in due in 2012. The G4 will likely launch with both hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions too.

Toyota may update the spec though like I think they did with the G2 in 2006 - 2 years into production. I would still expect this to happen around the time the G3 plug-in is launched.

  • 5 weeks later...

Spotted this on Priuschat - orders for 2011-spec Prius are being taken from Sept/Oct. It goes into production Oct/Nov for deliveries beginning Dec/Jan.

Not expecting any major changes, other than possibly additional/new colour/trim options.

This is US info, so treat accordingly.

I've not heard of any changes but you can never say never to anything with car manufacturers. The plug in is next but that will be very limited numbers I think. You certainly wont know what is going to be available for Sept 2011 anytime soon

Kingo

I am also considering buying a new or fairly new Gen 3 Prius about Sept 2011. That is when my Gen 2 is 4 years old. I was hoping by then the Prius would have electronic folding heated wing mirrors like the Avensis. From what has been said I may be disappointed!!
