Auris Hybrid

Financially it doesn't really make sense,

Over 10,000 miles/year @ 72mpg @ £6.00 gallon = 138 gallons = £828

Compare with car that does only 40 mpg

Over 10,000 miles @ 40mpg @ £6.00 gallon = 250 gallon = £1500

That saves you £ 672 year... over 10 years that's £ 6720.

The price of the "basic" Hybrid is £19k, compared to say a midspec TR at £15130.

So your thinking hmmmm, but the hybrid is saving money surely ? What about the road tax too ?

Well how are you financing the purchase... you have to take into account the interest you would lose and the depreciation on your capital etc... and all in all it's not really viable as means to save money IMO.

And that's compared to a car doing 40 mpg... my new Auris 1.33 is currently averaging 51.3 on the type of journeys I do so comparing Auris Hybrid to Auris 1.33 it's even less attractive.

You also have to compare and take into account servicing costs and insurance.

Just my thoughts anyway :)

don21, have a look at the Auris hybrid thread in the Prius section, it might not be as expensive as it seems.

There's a road test from Honest John I'll link, the video clip is worth watching. I think the car will sell very well.

A very positive review from "Honest John", may be "Hybrid" could be the Auris' forte!
