Yaris 1.4D Mmt 6-Speed Gearbox

Having recently purchased a Yaris 1.4D MMT with a 6-speed gearbox, I find that the car never actually goes into 6th gear! It does if I increase the speed to around 72/75mph, then drops out again at 65mph??? The car goes into 5th gear just above 40mph. I have taken the car back to the dealer who has checked it out and I am advised everything is as it should be. "The computer decides when to change gear"! I know that, but surely top gear should be attained before that sort of speed. Privately the dealer agrees that it does seem very odd. Anyone driving a manual transmission car would be in top gear, by the latest, at 55/60mph. I suspect the software needs tweeking, but so far Toyota UK are sticking to the "nothing is wrong" story! The fact that when I drive manually I achieve 10mpg better than in auto mode, namely because the engine is continually running at 300 rpm more than it should be at 60 mph does not seem to arouse any suspicion!. I am given to understand that a 1.4D MMT is an unusual car, but there must be loads of them about and it would be interesting to hear what other owners have found?
