Toyota confirmed the front O2 sensor does not work, but the Toyota part is mad money, cheaper O2 sensors can be got non genuine, but I am not sure if my engine is lean burn type which I was told if it is it requires the expensive toyota part.My car is a 1998 GS estate 1.6 I think the engine code is 4AfE but I would need to confirm this. Can anybody shed some light on this.Cheers

If your is a lean burn engine look on the dash board lights - you should have a green ECO indicator, although the bulbs tend to fail quite often.

GB £400 is Toyotas price for the lean burn sensor - check after market types /prices from Euro Car Parts or Lambdapower.

A trip to the scrap yard proved worthwhile for me, a £40 s/h one has got through 2 mot tests.

I just replaced the front lamda sensor with one from a breakers yard and the dash light is still on.How can I clear it to see if the replacement sensor has worked?

Thanks

Just disconnect the Battery for a minute will clear the ECU.

Make sure you have written down any security codes for your radio etc if used.

Easier still just pull the cable off the Sensor and reattach , worked a treat for me and I used it several times . thumbsup.gif
