Ecu Or Piggyback

Hi all I havent been on in a few months,

Have upgraded my st205, Got buddy club p1's 17inch wheels, have lowered it 20 mmm all round, new upgraded front and rear sturt bars, new custom made silent super flow exsu system with decat, and have upgraded the turbo to a greddy 025. Next on the list is the ECU. How ever i dont know what to go for, A full replacement ECU or a Piggyback system. I have done some research into both but that just made things worse lol :) .

ECU list,

Apexi Power FC

Blitz Access

HKS P1 prototype

Piggyback list

Greddy Emanage Ulitmate

Uni Chip

As you can see the list is very small, and as I live in Ireland i'll most deffo need to get it from the us to keep the cost down as this country is to overpriced for everything.

So i was wondering if anyone has any of these units running their cars, and if so what are they like ie(cost, reliability, ease of use, etc).

My car at the min is with the mods i got on it is putting out 297 BHP and 269 FT-PL at 1 bar boost on the standard ECU hence why i want to get something better.Want to get the most from my mods.

Any advice is very much welcome from you guys. Thank you :)

I'm running the Apexi PFC Pro-spec off the MR2 turbo at 1.6bar giving out 512bhp.

The E-manage Ultimate is very good for moderate power increases.

Out of the list I'd only entertain the ultimate or the PFC, I fit and tune both items and are very good at what they do. We also use Vi-PEC amongst others.

What you go for should be totally dependant on your goals for the car, if you've done all the mods you want to do both the PFC and Ultimate would do the job, the ultimate would give you extra features like launch control and spark cut rev limiters (softer on the engine and give big flames) whilst still retaining the standard ecu's safety features. The PFC is a standalone unit, which gives the mapper almost complete control of the engine, I say almost because the PFC is an entry level standalone which doesn't give individual injector and ignition control (not that we get it with our dizzy cap set up).

You also need to take into consideration locallity of your mapper and what system they can get the most from.

Are you planning on going crazy power or just enough to keep it drivable or are you at your limit?

I'm hoping to get about 320bhp and no more. I'll be happy with that :)

then it's a choice between the PFC and the Ultimate in my eye's. check your local tuners and see who's using what and see if you can pick something up second hand, plenty of bargin's to be had compaired to the full price
