Still Not Starting When Cold 1.8 Gs

The saga continues.

Cold start problems and running 7AGE 1998 Avensis.

I' ve checked both engine coolant sensor and air intake sensor this morning.

I appreciate that the temperature on the dashboard does not accurately show their temps but needed to check quickly.

The dashboard said 8 degrees ©, air intake and engine coolant where pretty close at 3.41 and 3.42 kohms respectively.

The engine just will not fire.

Examined the spark plugs and they stink of petrol, wet and black.

Have just put new HT leads on as the old ones were original.

Swapped out spark plugs .

Same result will not start.

Have replaced the Battery with a Bosch s 5 as the mechanic said the old one was probably on its way out.

It appears that I am just not getting a strong spark at the plugs though I will need to confirm this later on when the sun isn't so bright.

I appreciate that people have given pointers in the past, can anyone think of anything else?

I have got a checklist (thanks Gooli, I only just spotted it, observant it appears I am not) which I will recheck.

From that check list it suggests checking - STA Signal Circuit and Idle speed control valve. Does anyone know what I am looking for and how to check these two ?

Thanks in advance for your (considerable) patiance and assistance.

Pete.

Does the engine not even fire up once, or does it run very rough?

Also try not to start new threads, but stick to the one already started on the subject.

Easier to keep track on what is done and said that way.

Good point about starting new threads, consider this one closed , I'll dig the old one out.
