Got the car.

Shiny Thunder-grey Corolla T-Sport sitting outside - madly grinning owner sitting inside.

Observations so far:

6200rpm!!!!

Thank got it bleeps when you put it in reverse(bit of a comedy moment when I left the showroom):)

6200rpm!!!!

Apparantly 3-series beemer drivers aren't used to watching Corolla's disappearing off into the distance.

The person who decided where the gearlever should go had arms exactly the same length as mine.

6200rpm!!!

Seriously, the car is fabulous - lots and lots of grip and obviously very fast. Only slight criticism is a slight lack of feedback through the wheel - the only area in which I think my last car was beter (a Fiesta Zetec-S). A few rattles from the back - sounds like the stuff mentioned in other threads.

Overall I'm one very happy chappy.

yeah, make sure you have something soft between your registration plates and the metal for rattles to dissapear...

Believe me... BMW drivers are still gettin used to seeing me fly by :P

hehey..and the joys of having a t sport dont wear off, i still grin at 6200 rpm, a silly stupid grin ..and wait til you have an unsuspecting passenger. LOL even my mother!!! :D

anyway..as regards rattles you should have seen me and my friend trying to locate what appeared to be caused by the parcel shelf...him bent over the back seat banging at things will me driving over ramps in a carpark...eventually it came down to the inside of the back boot door. You'll see two removeable squares.(probably to allow access to wiper mechanism or something)..i now have it stuffed with a tiny piece of paper and hey presto...but it near drove me mental before that.:D

enjoy!

Thanks for your sugestions guys re. the rattles - I'll have a go at sorting it all out at the weekend.

Has anyone experienced a squeaky passenger seat? Mine is pretty annoying, but only when there's no-one sitting in it. I've tried moving it about a bit but it doesn't seem to have any effect - might be a back to the shop job.

Not that it its a major problem - I haven't stopped smiling since Friday. :D

Cheers,

Grum.

Yep, I had to remove all back panels to track down the rattle source. Mine was caused by a "loose" central locking mechanism bar. I carefully reassembled all the parts and installed all plastic covers with some silicone grease. No problems since...

One possible source of squeaky noise is also the exhaust system (no, I'm not suggesting this is the reason for squeaky seats) . Actually this took me some months to figure out, but there's a joint connector (swivel) between the exhaust system and exhaust manifold. When the engine wags and the swivel is dry, it causes strange squeaky noise under the car. You may hear this on very low cruising speeds and especially when you stop and go. The local dealer replaced the joint under the warranty...

Thanks for all the suggestion folks.

Checked out the boot - and yes the two panels seem a bit loose. I'll deal with that and the number plate at the weekend.

Don't think the headrest is the problem with the seat though - I tried taking it out all together on Saturday and it didn't help. Mind you, the seat didn't make a sound today (over some of the dirt tracks that pass for roads in Glasgow - maybe I should have bought a Landie ;)) I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.

i think the seat sounds are coming from big side airbag wire that is under your seat and is hitting bottom of it sometimes... to check it out, just place your hand on the passanger seat when you hear the sound and you will feel something under it...

I am still to find the source of the rattle that comes form behind and seems to be in frequency with the engine RPM...I fixed the reg plate but it turned out not to be the culprit...back passangers noted that the rattle was coming from behind their back so I suspected the boot: the floor of the boot doesn't sit completely on its bearings but everything about it is soft so I can't be sure...I'll remove the floor one of these days and drive some distance without it to see...

For you guys working at the UK Toyota plant: are the managers aware of these little annoyances? Is something being done to mend the situation? I can't stand the thought that my Cory may be rattling more than my ex-Matiz!:(
