i brought a toyota celica gt 1993 auto import about 3 weeks ago..and am having problems ...

when i put my foot on the acceleration it hesitates to pick up speed..it just does not want to move..its slowly picks up speed.but it takes for ever to do so...there is also a strong smell of petrol and there is black smoke coming out of the exhuast..

1st thing i decide to do was take out the fuel injectors and have a look if they work fine...they seen to be fine..i would like to replace them but they seem to cost over £300 which is money i just do not have...2nd thing i done was make sure the cat was not blocked..which i noticed it had a decat pipe..so no problem there..

i would like to know what else i can do?cheerz

Sounds more like an ignition fault, check your plugs, leads, dizzy and rotor arm. You could also check for error codes. Another possible fault is your lamda sensor, some garages can test these for you, a single wire universal one is only about £20 so worth changing anyways, that's if yours is a single, if it's a 4 wire I think their £30 odd.
