Sensor Issue

Hi guys I have recently purchased a 2.0 d4d Avensis T180 - 2006 model Left hand drive from spain. I notice something have been remove from the car but l was told that it was sensor. Now, when driving the speed is slow until it pick up. I don't think this is the required torque for such a powerful technology. The car was diagnosised recently and it was found to be the sensor before/Afer the particulate filter. Anybody out there who can tell me what type of sensors would these be? Thanks
