4.2 Engine Failure

Hi all, occasionally on this forum and 2 or 3 times a week on e-bay there are Rav 4.2's which have suffered total engine failure.Has any common cause been established and can any preventative action be taken? I ask because mine is getting near to the age/milage when some engines have succumed to failure.

If there is one piece of advice I can give regarding looking after your engine, changing your oil frequently (at least once a year or 10000 miles) with good quality oil is the most important.

It is the lifeblood of the engine.

Neglect anything else, it will run rough. Neglect the engine oil and quite simply you will reduce its life significantly.
