After a year of ownership are you losing much money on it, as I am contemplating doing the same thing?

"ITS GONE"

After two years of nothing but trouble, egr, high fuel consumption, seat material, plastics etc, etc, my 2008 SR 180 with just 8000 miles has also gone and has been replaced with a Prius, best thing I have ever done, the Prius is a dream to drive, 59mpg, and more toys than Santa's Grotto................

I tried to give it some TLC, I didn't even mention I run it exclusively on Shell v-power or diesel extra, or that I also regularly clean the engine bay. Still, had no calls and it's been on a few hours and is the cheapest T180 in the listings for the mileage.

We'll see

I should be getting my new car later today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed :)

Good luck with it, hopfully you should be able to shift it at the asking price.

Keep us posted on how much you eventually sell it for.

What exactly did you get in the end?

Im never driving anything without a VW dsg box again lol.

DSG boxes have quite many faults and I've heard that some taxi drivers are even told by the dealers to be ready to pay for fixing DSG every 80k KM's! I test drove a DSG box and it's nothing special. Yea smooth changes but when you come to a junction using high gear and stop or just brake so that the car needs to continue in 1st, there is quite huge lag before it "understands" to switch the 1st gear in.

i cant say ive had to do that yet fella. and if i did i would either use the flappy paddles on the steering wheel or use the shifter to change gears. What impressed me is that most autos loose a few mpg's compared to manuals but the dsg box has virtually the same mpg as a manual, infact the scirocco uses 0.2mpg less than the manual box. Well the car has a 3 year warantee and they threw in an extra years warantee on top of that so im covered for the 4 years im going to have it so if it breaks im not that bothered. My dad has a bmw 645ci auto and he admitted that the dsg box was better than his auto box in his car. So much so he is seriously considering an audi A8 4.2 dsg. I have heard on the vw forums that the dsg did have some faults in some of the diesel models such as juddery power take up but nothing on the latest petrol tsi models. If anything does happen though i will report back though. I think im just happy to have an auto, im too old for manuals now and with increased levels of traffic on the road, i dont think manuals make much sense anymore. Especially during rush hour.

Yea I hope everything goes fine. I don't know, maybe the DSG problems are allready sorted like you said...

I'm aware that there is warranty, but it still isn't great when your car isn't working properly. I had that situation many times with my Auris and didn't enjoy it nevertheless my warranty is still valid. To me the MPG figures aren't that important, so my point of view is a bit different I guess. I see that you are quite concerned about fuel economy and I don't deny that DSG is certainly better (than manual) to drive and it will be economical for sure!

All the best to you and report back when you can! :)
