Sputtering

ok.. my mr2 is starting to sputter a lot... it idols really low at about 200 rpm.. then when i drive off it sputters.. i checked all lines and everything is connected.. i dont knoe whut it is.. can anyone out there help me? if u need more information, ill try to explain exactly whut happens :(

have u disconnected the Battery recently?

sometimes it behaves like this until u've had a good run which resets the ecu.

mine drives like poo for 20 mins or so once the Battery has been off. u have to drive it hard, then steady etc. to give the ecu time to learn again.

if it isnt this, could be fuelling/mixture. maybe give it a little service, new sparks and air filter might help.

hmm.. okay.. it IDLES not idols.. heh... and i reset my ecu, made sure all spark plugs were connected, checked all vacuum hoses.. and it still sputters.. its like an on and off deal... it sputters, then all of a sudden it runs good.. i really dont know whut it is... could it be my TPS? or any other sensors?? :blink:

if you have JUST re-set the ECU the engine will be VERY lumpy for 5/15 mins ..
